We want YOU!

Nate was recently made a recruiter for Nav Air. So far, it has turned out to make for awesome mini vacations for us! I'm always up for getting out of town :) Last week, we went down to Cal-Poly Pomona. The campus was fun for me and Evan because they had a whole lot of animals all over! I'm talking cows, Arabian horses, you name it. I managed to only get my camera out the last day, at our last destination, the duck pond. Apparently, we showed up for nap time.

 But this was no ordinary duck pond; this pond was crawling with turtles!

 I thought this duck was cute, sleeping out on the rocks covered in turtles.

 I told you it was crawling with turtles! I have never seen anything like it!!

 The ducks kept their distance from the turtles. We had perfect seats right between the two gangs.

 Evan cared a whole lot more about the cars driving past us than the plethora of turtles next to him.

 "Vroom vroom!" When you show Evan a car and say, "vroom vroom!", he says, "mmmmmm!

If I would quack like a duck, he would turn and point to the pond to let me know where they were. :)

 At the beginning of October, we got to go to our Alma Mater and homeland! View from our hotel window.

 Evan's first night in a hotel; needless to say, it did not go well, at all.

 But he did get to play with his cousins, who love playing with him.

 After Evan got a little more used to the hotel room, he had a blast entertaining himself there.

 I acquainted him with every nook and cranny of the USU campus, and I just know he loved every minute of it just as much as I did ;)

 I got to go on a hike up the mountains with my family, and see the beginnings of fall! It was lovely!

 Evan is such a trooper while hiking. He is always so tired, but just wants to take it all in and not sleep!

 Evan was completely fascinated by all of Grandma Susan's Halloween decor. It was so much fun!

 And just because we haven't had a sleeping picture in a while...and just because I absolutely adore this guy.

 

 Hooray for recruiting! Hooray for such a wonderful job that provides Nate with so many great opportunities! And an extra hooray for mini vacations!! (especially for ones that take us home!)

Hot Stuff

Let me preface by reminding you that I love, love, love Halloween. I love everything about it. I had no idea how much more fun it would be with a kid! I can't wait until he is older and enjoys it more. Hopefully, he will take after me and love it also, and not be a Hallo-dud like his Dad. :)

 Grandma Susan gave Evan this awesome trick-or-treat bag, which he loves to crawl around with.

 Pretty much the cutest little fireman I eved did see.

 As much as I love Halloween, I cannot justify spending uber amounts of money on costumes. A friend gave us this fireman one, so we built around it with what we already had. You better believe, we WILL be one of those themed families every year!

 Having  too much fun-even without eating any candy! (They were having a laughing contest)

 So Evan snuck a piece of candy from Tyson before I could get to him. The results were about 20 minutes of off the wall hyper baby, when it was way past bedtime. I tried to capture some of his craziness, but he couldn't hold still!

Evan was a great sport about being dressed up. He didn't seem to know what to think of everyone else dresssed up, though. The highlight of his Halloween was seeing several dogs at the Trunk-or-Treat. Way more exciting!

Little Jack-O-Lantern

This pic was taken earlier this month when Nate went recruiting at USU and we got to visit family. My mom had this costume from a previous grandchild, so we were seeing if it would fit Evan. It had no legs, so it was a no go, but Evan still seemed to think it was pretty funny!

 Speaking of Jack O Lanterns, when you ask Evan to show his teeth and say "AH", this is what you get.

 Afterwards, because you are usually laughing, he is pretty proud of himself.

The latest addition to our family, Evan's first top tooth.

 
 He now has three pearly whites total, though this only shows two, making for a very handsome Jack-O-Lantern just in time for Halloween.

 Our little pumpkin currently spends all of his time climbing, expecially up things he shouldn't...

...so he can stand up, and attack things he shouldn't.

 He is trying to go for the computer here. He is fascinated by the bouncing icon on the screen. He tries to catch it. :)

 But he also spends a whole lot of time just being cute.

He really loves playing the belly game with daddy, where daddy pats Evan's belly while simply saying, "Belly, belly, belly" in his deep daddy voice. Mostly, he just loves playing with daddy.

Mommy and Daddy currently enjoy spending their time doing whatever they can to make Evan laugh and laugh and laugh.

We just love our handsome little jack-o-lantern!

FORE!

When playing golf, and someone yells "FORE!", in my head that means, "Watch out! Something is coming!" According to wikipedia, the term means "look ahead", and it is believed to come from the military "beware before", which was shouted when a battery fired behind friendly troops. Either way, my sweetheart and I have been married for 4 years today. And I still think he's a sweetheart. We've lived a lot of life in the last 4 years. We both graduated college, survived grad school, road tripped across the country to live on the East Coast, traveled to other countries, became grown ups by getting real jobs (meaning having insurance, and nights and weekends off), said final goodbyes to loving grandma's, started our own family traditions, moved to the West Coast, and brought a beautiful bouncing baby boy into our lives, just to name a few. It's been a good 4 years. Eventful, trying, exciting, and pretty much wonderful. Whether this anniversary comes as a warning for the upcoming year, "Watch out! Something is coming!" or it is simply just here to remind us to "Look ahead", I am happy for anniversaries so I can celebrate everything  that is US. I heart being US. Just for fun, here is a little throwback to US when we first started dating, over 5 years ago:

   Maybe it was our Aggie Pride that brought us together. :) Whatever it was, I'm sure glad it did. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, LOVE!

Wild Child

Wild HAIR child, that is. Evan definitely inherited his parent's hair. If left to dry on it's own without manipulating, it falls completely flat on his head. So far, I think he's got my texture, very fine and thin. After his bath the other day, I was rubbing his towel all over his head because he thought it was so funny. Lo and behold, the kid has crazy amounts of hair!

 Who knew?!

 And the cutest little tiny curls I ever did see.

 I don't where these came from. Both Nate and I have stick straight hair. But I sure am glad Evan got 'em!

 I love to run my fingers through his lovely locks. Nate, on the other hand, is demanding a haicut. He says if the baby's hair is longer than his, than it is too long. I can't bring myself to cut my BABY's hair; plus, I don't think he needs one. So, I leave it up to you, bloggers. Whose team are you on?

 May I remind you, try and imagine this adorable face without all that flluff on top.

PS-At Evan's 9 month well-baby checkup, the doctor deemed him very social and confident. (Cracks me up every time I think about it!) My sister said, Oh, perfect! That's just what I'm looking for in a baby! :)
